WICHITA, Kan.—
With the majority of the season in the rear-view mirror, wrestlers are preparing themselves for league, regional and state competitions. This means even more focus in practices, duals and tournaments. The rankings reflect those that are honed in on a state title, leaving the rest on the road behind.Class 6A – Click here for complete rankings
No changes at the top of any weight class came in 6A, as Wichita Heights Sean DeShazer remained atop 113, with crosstown rival Michael Lindlar of Wichita Northwest nipping at his heels at No. 2. Much like 6A, the 5A classification saw no changes atop any weight class as Logan Terrill of Ark City held on to the top spot in 106. He has had a tough time securing the No. 1 spot consistently all season. Great Bend’s Chris Burley continued his solid season as he kept his No. 1 ranking in 126. It looks as though Newton’s Dillon Archer is going to have to face and defeat Hays’ Preston Weigel. Archer has consistently been the No. 2 guy in 195 despite a Newton Tournament of Champions win over one of the top wrestlers in Nebraska.
The top five teams remain in the same places as last week, with Ark City atop the classification. St. Thomas Aquinas and St. James Academy are still No. 2 and No. 3, as Newton and Valley Center fill out the top five, respectively.
