WICHITA, Kan.—
Several unranked teams have worked their way into this week’s volleyball rankings, specifically in 5A and 3A where two and three previously unranked teams, respectively, are now in the top five. In 5A, both Valley Center and Kapaun Mt. Carmel both went from the ‘others’ category to fourth and fifth, respectively, in the class. The top two teams in Bishop Miege and Blue Valley stayed the same as last week while St. Thomas Aquinas jumped from No. 5 to No. 3.
Class 3A saw the most change of any class state rankings this week. Hillsboro claimed the top spot again, but Silver Lake took a leap from fourth to the No. 2-ranked team in the state. Riley County, Cherokee Southeast and Hutchinson Trinity are now the third, fourth and fifth-ranked teams in 3A, respectively. Cherokee Southeast was the only team to be in the ‘others’ competition.
In 4A, Topeka Hayden went from an ‘other’ to the No. 5 team in the state. In 2A, Kiowa County and Hill City went from being unranked to the No. 3 and No. 5 teams in the state respectively.
