KVA releases fifth volleyball rankings

The reclassification of schools has shown its face in this week’s volleyball rankings. St. James Aacdemy was the top-ranked team in 4A last week, but is now the top-ranked team in 5A, as Bishop Miege fell from No. 1 to No. 4. Kapaun Mt. Carmel remains the No. 2 squad in the class and St. Thomas Aquinas became the No. 3 team.

Because of the Thunder moving up to 5A, Topeka Hayden, Chanute and McPherson all moved up one spot to the No. 1, 2 and 3 spots in the class, respectively. Hillsboro held onto the No. 1 spot in 3A as Mission Valley debuted as the No. 2 team after holding the top spot in 2A last week.

The move of Mission Valley means that Ell-Saline takes the No. 1 ranking and Burlingame goes to No. 2. Both teams moved up two spots from last week. The two teams moved up two spots apiece because Olpe dropped from 2A to 1A-Div. 1. The Lady Eagles were the top team in 2A before reclassification.
