WICHITA, Kan.—
There is quite a bit happening in the first cross country rankings of the year. The only glimpse of where these teams may be was released in the preseason, and now teams have a good idea of where they stand.After a three-way tie for the 6A boys’ No. 3 ranking in the preseason, Wichita North is now in sole position of the No. 3 slot. Maize jumped from the ‘Others’ category to the No. 6 spot in 6A.
The Maize South girls have made quite the name for themselves this season as they are the third-ranked team in 4A behind No. 1 Baldwin and No. 2 Topeka Hayden. The Mulvane boys are at No. 4 in 4A and Andale is No. 6.
The Douglass girls continue its strong program in 2012 as it is now ranked at No. 2 in 3A state. The Berean girls’ and boys’ teams are the No. 4 and No. 6 teams in 2A, respectively.
