Kapaun golf takes City League Championship

On a weather day that seemed like it was made for golf, Kapaun Mt. Carmel enjoyed the weather, and a Greater Wichita Athletic League team championship.

Led by individual winner Katie Wells (86) and second-place finisher Hannah Perkins (88), the Crusaders carded a team score of 369, 14 strokes better than second-place Bishop Carroll (383), and 44 strokes better than third place Wichita Northwest.

Wells shot a 42 on the front nine, and a 44 on the back to take home the individual title, while Perkins shot a 45-43. Third and fourth place went to Bishop Carroll, as Carly Hill & Shelbie Stuckey shot 90 & 95 respectively.

Kapaun Mt. Carmel also won the overall team championship, which is tabulated throughout the entire GWAL season. Kapaun won three of the four regular season titles, along with one second-place finish. Combined with the league championship on Monday, the Crusaders finished with 41 points, while Bishop Carroll came in second with 39. (See chart below for overall season team championship).

The end of the league season also meant the announcement of All-League honors. Below are the 2012 All-League honors.
