Yet again, Buhler’s Taryn Torgerson’s name found its way to the top of the list of finishers at a golf tournament. For the sixth straight time, Torgerson won her tournament. This time, it was the Andale Regional at Cherry Oaks Golf Course in Cheney.
Torgerson shot 40 on both the front and back nine for a final score of 80, a score that is on par with the best in the state, and puts her in a good position going into the state tournament. Buhler hosts the 4A state tournament and will be played at the Hesston Golf Park in Hesston. The tournament will be on Monday, Oct. 15.
She led her team to the regional title as teammates Maggie Starr shot 92, Erin Monaghan shot 98 and Kellie Burns 104.

Hawkins shot 47 on the front nine and 42 on the back nine. Eck shot 53 on the front nine, but on the back nine, she had the lowest score with just 38 strokes.
Winfield was the model of consistency for the tournament as team leaders Holly Hottinger and Abby Bertholf both shot 96. Jesse Burtnett shot 97 for the Lady Vikings and Kelsey Estrada finished with 101, the best of the fourth-place finishers.
Coffeyville’s Anna Pool, a freshman, shot a 90 and will play for a state championship. Pool was the third-place individual finisher in the tournament. She was the only top-ten finisher to make the state tournament as an individual, unaffiliated from the top three teams.
Pool was also the only golfer from Coffeyville at the regional. Jayme Hughey and Sidney Gile both shot a 106 and are both from Circle. The duo are the only two from Circle to make the cut for the state tournament. Hughey and Gile were in a three-way tie for 14th place.
Augusta’s Kalley Trebbe shot a 109 to make the state tournament and Mulvane’s Macie Voss shot 112 to finish 21st at the regional and make the cut for state.
