The boys’ tournaments are in full swing on the hardwood. The beauty of these tournaments is all the odd matchups and surprises they normally provide. So far this year, tournament week has not disappointed. Catch up on all the action below.
Salina Tournament
Andover walked past Smoky Valley 66-39. Clay Center slid by Concordia in a 68-64 win. Salina South didn’t have much trouble with Abilene as the Cougars won 63-54. Salina Central was able to pull away from Salina Sacred Heart 46-35.
Sterling Tournament
Maize South barely took down Remington 65-62. Sterling lost on its home floor to Wichita Independent 64-52. Bluestem was able to beat Hutch Trinity in the consolation semifinals 56-54.
Hillsboro Tournament
Host Hillsboro fell in the opening round to Republic County 46-42. Wamego blew Goodland out of the water 68-23.
Halstead Tournament
Rose Hill caught Cheney off guard in a 60-49 Rockets win. Moundridge was able to keep Halstead at bay in a 54-39 victory.
Burrton Tournament
Inman was in control the entire way against Hutch Central Christian in a 60-48 Teuton victory. The Bulldogs of Pretty Prairie took down Fairfield 64-53.
Hoisington Tournament
Minneapolis staved off LaCrosse in a 44-34 victory. Host Hoisington trounced Ellsworth 70-40. Hoisington's Cody Stetler finished with 23 points and 18 rebounds for the double-double.
Spring Hill Tournament
Goddard Eisenhower beat Kansas City (MO.) East 63-52.
MONDAY
Burrton Tournament
Little River took down host Burrton 59-44. T. Lane led all players with 23 points for Burrton in the loss. Berean Academy slid by Goessel 37-34. Berean's Loren Pearce led all players with 20 points. He was the only player in double digits.
Canton-Galva Tournament
Southeast of Saline took down Sedgwick 63-50. It was a much more lopsided affair for Bennington and Canton-Galva. The Bulldogs of Bennington beat the Eagles 62-30.
Halstead Tournament
Andale pounded Douglass 80-61 to open the 43rd annual Adolph Rupp Tournament. Garden Plain upset No. 2 seed Haven 57-52. The best Haven can finish is fifth.
Hillsboro Tournament
A big third quarter helped Holcomb past Thomas More Prep 69-57. Holcomb's Tyler LaSalle led all players with 16 points. Hesston dominated Riley County 64-38. Hesston's Wyatt McKinney led all players with 20 points. Ryan Schadler dropped 16 points for the Swathers.
Mid-Continent League Tournament
Phillipsburg trounced Hill City 58-40. Ellis had no problem with Stockton 74-53. Plainville embarrassed Trego 64-25. Smith Center slipped past Norton unscathed 68-64.
Sterling Tournament
Lyons utterly dominated Hutch Trinity 49-24. Beloit steamrolled Bluestem 73-49.
