Melvin Herring has been selected as Southeast’s head boys basketball coach beginning next school year. Herring served as an assistant coach last year at the school.

Herring replaces longtime coach Carl Taylor who stepped down following the season. Taylor spent 20 years at Southeast and led the Buffaloes to three Class 6A titles while posting a 345-146 record during his time.

Southeast finished 9-12 overall and 6-10 in the City League this past season and was defeated by Derby in the opening round of sub-state.
