Bubba Starling of Gardner Edgerton was the big story on day one as he was drafted fifth overall by the Royals, but the three-sport star was not the only Kansas high schooler to go in the draft's 50 rounds.
After Starling, Cody Kukuk of Lawrence Free State was pegged by the Boston Red Sox as the 232nd pick of the draft in the seventh round.
Nathan Williams of Valley Center was drafted in the 38th round by the Atlanta Braves.
Williams has been signed by Kansas State University to play next year. This season he threw 46 innings and had 80 strike outs with a 1.21 ERA.
Tucker Chadd was the next Kansas player off the board to the Tigers in the 42nd round.
In the 46th round, the Braves took another pitcher in John Means of Gardner Edgerton. Means was the second Gardner Edgerton player picked in the draft.
In the 50th round, two Kansas boys went with Shawnee Heights' Tyler Baker going to Cleveland and Bishop Carroll catcher Brandon Weber getting picked by the Tigers.
