Bishop Carroll head football coach Alan Schuckman has been named the 2013 Midwest Sectional Coach of the Year by the National Federation of State High School Associations.
The Midwest section is comprised of Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, and South Dakota. With the award, the NFHS recognizes Schuckman as the best football coach out of these states.
Last fall, Schuckman coached the Golden Eagles to a 10-1 season and a trip to the state quarterfinals, where Carroll was beat by Salina South 21-19. A year ago, Carroll won its first state title since 1978, its second championship in school history. The Golden Eagles have won the City League in each of the last two seasons.
Winning the Midwest section makes Schuckman one of eight coaches in the country to win a sectional award. In his 19 seasons as the head coach of Carroll, the Golden Eagles have made the state playoffs in each of the last 11 years, with a state championship in 2012.
