WICHITA, Kan.—
The West High bowling team headed over to the Alley on Feb. 8 to take on Kapaun Mt. Carmel and Trinity.West finished in third place but it was an exceptional night for one of West high’s senior bowlers. Senior Jonathon Porter bowled a 300 for the Pioneers. He has been a Varsity bowler for four years now. Porter is the only Varsity bowler to bowl a 300 in the 2011-2012 seasons. The closest he has been to a 300 was at practice when he bowled a 267 in practice. The first game of the night Jonathon bowled a 190 then a 223 and finished with a 300. West was missing two experience Varsity bowlers but this did not seem to effect the Pioneers.
“Bowling a 300 was a great accomplishment for me. I’ve been working on it and it didn’t come easy. We had some players missing but we had mark come up from JV and he helped us out. We all tried and the girls did great,” said Porter.
Not only did the Boys team have a good night, the girls’ team defeated both Trinity and Kapaun.
West will travel Thunderbird Bowling Alley to participate in the North High Tournament on Saturday, Feb. 11.
The Tournament will start at 2:00 p.m.
