With 12 golfers on North’s roster this season, the Redskins will try to focus on improving as they now start the season off on a not so high note. Last year, the Skins finished the year off in seventh place in the City League. It is a finish that this team is destined to improve upon and works to achieve each week.
“We are trying to improve on our scoring, chipping, putting, drills and wedges. I’ve seen that the kids from last year are getting better. We had a really tough first meet to start out the year,” head coach Scott Baxter said.
By placing last place in their latest meet at the Bishop Carroll Invitational, the team got a chance to look at where they are now and think about where they hope to be as the season continues on. On a high note, Baxter has seen great improvements in the only two returning seniors in Ryan Ingram and Garrett Taylor, as well as in junior John VonFange who is also a returner.
“Our goals this year are to get people to state, but our main objective this year is to improve each week: Trying to get better. Also, a team goal has been to be competitive with Southeast,” Baxter said.
Their next meet will be Monday at Sim Park at 3:00 p.m.
