WICHITA, Kan.—
The Heights boys’ bowling team won its final triangular meet before the GWAL tournament on Saturday. Heights scored 2,409 pins to beat second place South with 2,360 and East’s 2,159-pin output.Alex George led the way for the Falcons with a 624-pin series.
After seeing all the teams this season, George has not been surprised by much.
“I haven't seen any team really shock me, but I have seen teams bowl better than expected and beat us,” George said. “That shows we shouldn't underestimate out opponents."
Now the team heads into the GWAL bowling tournament on Saturday with aspirations to win.
"Our next meet is Saturday, and it's the City League Tournament, George said. “I'm not really nervous because I know we can all bowl well, and its dress rehearsal for regionals in a way."
Heights hopes to have a good run here in the championship meets that culminates in a state championship.
“My long term goal for the team is to make it to state and possibly win,” George said. “I think we are on the right track, because we are all starting to bowl as well as I know we can."
