It could have been easy for the Thomas More Prep baseball team to over look Larned on Tuesday. After all, the Monarchs came into the double header with a 13 game winning streak and the Indians hadn't won back to back games all season. Not to mention 3A TMP has a big series with 5A Great Bend on Thursday.

But they didn't, jumping out to a 9-0 lead through five innings in game one. And any though they might have had of kicking it on cruise control was wiped away in the sixth, when Larned cut the lead to five, when it put up a five spot in their half of the inning.

Monarchs had an answer, putting up four runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning to give them a 13-4 win in game one.

In game to, the Monarchs had a much easier time of it, partly because they got better pitching an partly because the Indians just kind of feel apart, Larned with five early errors helping TMP jump out to a 10-0 lead. The Indians would get one run in the top of the fifth, hoping to avoid getting run ruled. But the Monarchs scored in the bottom of the inning, to give them the 11-1 win in five innings.

TMP has now won 15 straight games, but head coach Brian Schumacher says, there is still work to be done.

"I know there are a lot of coaches that would love to be in my position winning 15 in a row," said Schumacher. "We do have some things to work on and they continue to work at it, and get ready for Great Bend on Thursday and then on to regionals."
