The Douglass Bulldogs boys’ and girls’ basketball team traveled to Medicine Lodge Friday night where they both suffered losses to make their records 10-9.

The first quarter started out rather rocky for the boys as the Indians jumped to a 25-15 lead. At halftime, the Bulldogs had managed to close the gap and tie the game at 35 points.

Things stayed tight in the third quarter but Medicine Lodge held the lead at 54-51 at the end of the quarter.

The Indians made a run in the fourth quarter to run away with a 76-69 victory.

Douglass’ Ronnie Sobanek led all scorers with 29 points. Cody Holthaus and Chase Banister followed with 15 and 16 points, respectfully.

The Lady Bulldogs struggled most the night as their defense was not up to par.

“We struggled on both ends of the court,” said Sarah Wright.

The Lady Indians led the entire game from the start as Douglass only could manage to get within four points of reach. The first quarter ended 12-8, Indians.

At halftime, Medicine Lodge remained with lead, 23-16.

In the third quarter, the Indians widened their gap by four points, 35-24.

The Bulldogs continued to fight but fell short as they lost 43-46.

Junior Sarah Wright led Douglass with 11 points. Maressah Milum followed with eight points on the night.

Medicine Lodges’ Ali Rogers led all scorers with 15 points. 

The Bulldogs will play again at 6 and 7:30 p.m on Tuesday, Feb. 22 at Bluestem against the Lions.
