Dodge City's goal was to beat Liberal. They did just that. The boys scraped out the win with a 3038 team total and the girls swept the competition bowling a 2563 team total.
“The team I thought did really good today,” Demons’ Kaden Herbert said.  “We all started out really good. I personally did not do very well my last game and it was kind of difficult to adjust. Bakers could have been a little bit better. We had a little trouble getting our spares but we got a lot of strikes thanks to Dillon and a lot of the other team players.”

Goddard Eisenhower took second overall for the boys with a 3015 team total. It’s Drew Belanger placed third individually with a 638 series. Liberal fell to third overall with a 2777 total. Dodge City’s Tanner Dalton placed first bowling a 655 series and Dylan Woods earned second with a 642.

In the girls games the Lady Redskins placed second with a 2201 team total. Goddard Eisenhower fell to third after bowling a 1933. Eisenhower’s Bridget Lagana placed second individually with a 599 series.

The Lady Demons placed first in both the team and individual competitions. They bowled a 2563 team total. Chantel Smith earned first for the Demons as well bowling a 615 series. The Lady Demons’ Elizabeth Del Real also placed for the Demons. She took third with a 500 series.
“As a team we won 7-0 which meant we won the total for the first time,” Smith said. “Then we beat them in Bakers which was also the first time.”

Dodge City honored its seniors at the end of the night. Smith said she hopes to get a scholarship to continue bowling at the collegiate level. After seeing her team play so well together tonight she is confident about leaving her teammates.
“It’s sad but happy knowing I’m leaving the girls and they’ve improved a lot so I know that they’ll be able to do it next year,” she said.

Dodge City’s Kaden Herbert is only focused on their next dual with Garden City.
“We are looking forward to going to Garden,” he said. “That’s our big competition with the Hatchet and everything that’s always fun there. We want to go to Garden and get seven points. Then we go to the WAC tournament in Liberal and that’s where we hope to take the championship.”
The Demons are climbing the WAC rankings and after their victory against Liberal and Goddard Eisenhower they are gaining strength.
“We were tied with Liberal for second and after today I believe we have solidified second,” Herbert said. “I don’t know where that will put us with Great Bend but after today I think that will leave us battling with Great Bend for first.”
