Hugoton’s Nicole Kinser had quite the night. She started the first game off with two consecutive kills. An early lead was shot as Cimarron’s Ashtynn Burns returns the favor to rally the Jays back to take the lead 5-3 Lady Jays. They maintained the lead through the end of the first game 25-18.
The momentum shifted rapidly during the second game. Tied at seven points Brittney Pingsterhaus took control with a kill giving Cimarron the lead.
The lead was back and forth through 14 points. A big block by Kinser put the ball in their court ahead 19-14. A shift in the momentum and a sideout sealed the win for Cimarron 25-23.
Lakin faced Elkhart for their first match. The Lady Broncs' tips were venomous for the wildcats. Eight unanswered points to open the game and Lakin would take the first game easily 25-12.
The second was not so easy. The Lady Broncs started down but solid serving tied the game at 7. The perfect set up and the Wildcats’ Sydney Dougherty tied it up at again later in the game at 11.
The two teams keep it tight but with the score 24-20 Elkhart killed itself with a deep ball. Lakin won 25-20 in two games.
Cimarron met Elkhart in it's second match. The Lady Jays swept it in two games with the final game ending 26-24.
The Hugoton and Lakin match up was also incredibly close but still only going into two games. The Eagles took the win with a score of 25-23 in the second game.
