Voting in the Fourth Annual Catchy Awards is beginning to wind down. Voting has been going on for a little over a month and there are only two weeks left to cast your votes for your favorite players and teams.
More than 8,000 responses have already been collected, but many categories are still within percentage points.
Here are some of the closest battles:
Volleyball Player of the Year – The current leader has 28-percent of the votes. Second place is only 28 votes behind with 27-percent of the vote. Third and fourth place are not much further behind with 23% and 22% of the votes respectively.
Boys Basketball Player of the Year – The leader currently has 31% of the vote, but second place has charged hard in the last week and a half to get within two-percent at 29% of the vote overall.
Wrestler of the Year – First place and second place are separated by a mere three-percent.
Softball Player of the Year – Less than 100 votes separate first from second in this category.
Girls Track Athlete of the Year – This is one of the closest categories by far with first through third only being separated by 127 votes. Any one of the girls could still win this category.
Girls Soccer Player of the Year – This is another category that has not had a clear front runner for the duration of the voting. All four girls are within five percentage points of each other as the leader has garnered 27% of the vote to this point and fourth place has 22% so far.
Class 5A Team of the Year – Only 180 votes separate first from third in this category.
These are just some of the closest battles right now, but there are many more close races. In 16 of the 29 categories, first and second are separated by less than 10% of the total vote. That is a number that can easily swing over the next 14 days of voting.
Get in and vote now for your favorite athletes and teams from the last school year. Voting runs through July 31.
