Tournament week has arrived and with Tuesday comes a bulk of games from across the state. CatchItKansas is here to fill you in on tonight's contentious basketball action.
GWAL
Wichita Heights traveled to Kapaun Mt. Carmel looking to restart their winning streak after Wichita South snapped it at 56. Kapaun wouldn't cooperate however and spoiled the Falcon's bid to begin another streak as the Crusaders defeated Heights 50-48.
Bishop Carroll came into Tuesday night with just three loses on the season. Their game against Wichita Northwest was a close contest, but the Golden Eagles flew past the Grizzlies in a 48-40 victory.
Wichita West struggled offensively against Wichita North, but the Redskins struggled even more than Pioneers. West managed to snap a 37 game losing streak with a 36-26 victory over North.
Hillsboro Tournament
Hillsboro took on Thomas More Prep in their tournament game on Tuesday. In a game that looked like it was complete mismatch on paper, the reality turned out to be the same. The Trojans blow out Thomas More Prep 65-25.
Goodland was unable to take down Republic County, a feat that no team this year had accomplished. Republic County kept their perfect 11-0 record alive with a 46-32 win over Goodland.
MCL Tournament
Smith Center doubled up on Phillipsburg 66-33 and move on to play another game.
Norton Community out-played Plainville in the fourth quarter to pull away and snatch a 49-41 victory.
Ellis moved to a perfect 10-0 against an over-matched Hill City team. The Ringnecks couldn't keep up with the Railroaders as Ellis won 53-43.
Osborne's defense was just too much for Stockton as the Tigers were unable to eclipse the 20 point mark offensively. Those 20 points just weren't enough when Osborne puts up 44 and wins by 24.
Non-League
Derby's MacKenzie Holcomb lead the offensive charge against Arkansas City scoring 21 points and grabbing 11 boards. She and the rest of the Panthers starters were pulled out of the game before the fourth quarter. Arkansas City was unable to keep it close and they too pulled their starters, they waited till the fourth quarter started, but it didn't matter the Panthers were too fast winning 68-26.
Campus achieved victory, for just the third time this season, over a struggling Eisnehower team. The Colts won 52-47.
Hutchinson picks up just their second win of the season over the Goddard Lions. The Salthawks won 52-38.
The Maize Eagles are a perfect 8-0 after their victory over Andover Central. Maize is currently KBCA's number one girls basketball team in 6A.
Newton earned an 11 point win over Valley Center and moved to 8-1 on the season.
Wichita Collegiate snuck out of their game against Rose Hill with a win on Tuesday night. The Spartans defeated the Rockets in a close game, 41-37.
Andale prevailed against Buhler 59-37. The Indians improve to a perfect 10-0 on the Season.
McPherson dominates Circle in a game that was never close, 55-36. Circle closed the gap late but it was way to late in the game to make a realistic run at the win.
Clearwater played a close one against the Mulvane Wildcats but in the end the Indians prevailed 37-32.
Hays improved to .500 at 5-5 as they narrowly defeated Dodge City 44-42 in a game that came down to the final shot.
