Palco and Weskan advanced both their boys and girls team to Friday's semifinals of the Western Kansas Liberty League tournament. The Lady Roosters and Coyotes held the top seeds on the girls and boys side respectively, with Palco boys coming in as the five seed and the Weskan girls the two. On the girls side Tri-Plains and Golden Plains also advanced. For the boys Cheylin and Tri-Plains move on to Friday's semifinal round. Those games will be played in Colby.

Girls: Palco 54, Northern Valley 33

The Lady Roosters moved to 6-1 on the season. Palco is lead by Kali Newell who buried three threes en-route to 14 points. Three Lady Roosters finished the game in double figures. Palco's only loss this season is to Class 2A Ellis. The Lady Roosters compete in Class 1A Division II. Northern Valley falls to 2-6.

Girls: Golden Plains 47, Wheatland Grinnell 31

In what was one of the more intriguing match ups of the quarterfinal round, the host Thunderhawks gave the number 9 ranked team in Class 1A Division II a battle, at least for a half. Wheatland Grinnell actually lead by four at the half. But the Lady Bulldogs dominated the second half outscoring Wheatland Grinnell 31-11 to avenge an earlier loss this season. Golden Plains improves to 5-2 on the season. They are lead in scoring by Angela Ritter and Jordan Christainsen, who each had 12. Golden Plains will play Palco on Friday. Wheatland Grinnell falls to 4-3.

Girls: Tri-Plains 48, Logan 28

The Lady Bulldogs have traditionally been one of the top teams in western Kansas, but on Tuesday the Titans proved too much for Logan. Tr-Plains started the game with an 11-0 run and never looked back. The Titans were lead in scoring by Britney Pummer's 18. Tri-Plains inproves to 6-2 on the season, Logan falls to 5-4.

Girls: Weskan 48, Cheylin 31

The number 7 ranked Lady Coyotes improved to 5-2 on the season after a 17 point win over the Lady Cougars. Weskan was lead in scoring by Robin See who had 16 points. Weskan will try to avenge one of two losses on the season when they play Tri-Plains on Friday.

Boys: Weskan 67, Golden Plains 32

The top seeded and number 7 ranked Weskan boys had little trouble with Golden Plains. The Coyotes improve to 6-1 on the season came before Christmas to previously ranked Stockton. Weskan is lead in scoring by Hayden Walker' 14 points.

Boys: Palco 57, Northern Valley 31

The only "upset" of the day was turned in by the Palco Roosters, if you can call a 5 seed beating a 4 seed an upset. The biggest surprise may be that the Roosters were able to build the lead on the Huskies to the point that there was a running clock in the forth quarter. Palco was lead in scoring by Seth Armbruster, who turned in 14 points. The Roosters improve to 4-3 on the season and will face Weskan on Friday. Northern Valley falls to 3-4.

Boys: Cheylin 75, Healy 32

Healy had it's hands full with a much bigger and deeper Cheylin team. The Cougars jumped out to a 26-6 first quarter lead and never looked back. Cheylin improves to 5-1 on the year. They were lead by Walker Janicke and Joshua Keltz who each had 22 points.Healy falls to 2-6

Boys: Tri-Plains 42, Western Plains 38

The best boys game of the day was turned in by the Titans and the Bobcats. Western Plains has won just three games all season, but they gave now 6-1 Tri-Plains all they wanted. The Titans made it interesting by not being able to hit free throws down the stretch. Titans gets Cheylin in Friday's semifinals. Western Plains falls to 3-6 on the season.
