More than a little movement took place in the final tennis rankings before the state tournament. In class 6A, the only team to stay in the same spot after last week’s regionals is Lawrence Free State in the ‘others’ section. Shawnee Mission West and Hutchinson both jumped up to join Free State in the rankings. The top five teams stayed the same, but switched positions heading into state.

It’s a similar situation in 5A, as St. Thomas Aquinas remains the top-ranked and Salina Central still sits at No. 2 teams in the state, but that’s about the only consistency in the top eight.

In 3-1A, the top two teams in Sterling and Independent flipped the top spot as Sterling now sits atop the class. Hutchinson Trinity and KC Christian did the same for the three and four slots. Trinity is now No. 3 in the class.
