If you're a football fan (and I hope you are if you're reading this article), then you might want to head to Reno County for some top-notch football tonight.
It's not often the #2 team versus the #3 team face off, but that's exactly what will happen as Mulvane travels to Buhler for a game with huge league implications, not to mention a third straight tough opponent for Buhler.
The Crusaders are facing a ranked opponent for the third consecutive week, so it's safe to say the team will be battle-tested. Mulvane is led by former Rising Star Ty Redington, who went out last week and produced a perfect passing performace, going 9-9 with more than 200 yards and 3 touchdowns. It's hard to beat perfection.
Speaking of battle-tested, a team is traveling a long ways to battle the top-ranked team in Kansas, the Hutchinson Salthawks. Playing the #1 team might intimidate some teams, but Rockhurst High School in Missouri has already played the #2 team in Missouri, and the #2 team in Arkansas, so it's safe to say they are used to big games, and it's only their fourth one of the season. Rockhurst did lose both games to those teams, but the lessons learned will come in handy as they continue the series with Hutchinson for the fifth cnsecutive year. Rockhurst won the first game in 2008, Hutch won the second in '09, while Rockhurst has won the last two.
U Pick 'Em will once again be the game to play this season. Everyone is invited to sign up and compete against the Eyewitness Sports team. Anyone who beats KWCH Sports Director Bruce Haertl in a given week will be eligible to win a prize, plus you can compete against your friends to see who is the king or queen of high school football.
A new addition to the line-up this season is the Catch It Kansas Tailgate Party. The Crew from KSCW and Bruce Haertl will be at a different game each week, and will be live in newscasts at 4:00, 5:00 & 6:00. If you're going to be at the game in Hutchinson this week, be sure to come early for the chance to win prizes and eat a brat to support the Salthawk booster club.
CatchItKansas.com and KWCH 12 Eyewitness Sports will be across the state on Friday, bringing the most complete coverage of high school football in the state of Kansas. Below are all the game you can expect coverage from on KWCH 12 Eyewitness Sports, and the Catch It Kansas Show on KSCW 33, Cable 5 at 11:00 pm on Friday night.
