AVCTL Div. II
Valley Center cruised over Eisenhower, with three players hitting double figures in a 59-34 win for the Lady Hornets. Madison Wedekind led Valley Center with 19 points with Taylor Johnson and Meagan Williams scored 11 points each. Brynn Minor led the Lady Tigers with 11 points and Emily King added 10 to Eisenhower’s cause.
CKL
Nickerson’s only win of the season came against Halstead in the seventh place game at the Wildcat Classic in Haven. However, the Lady Panthers could not make it two in a row over the Lady Dragons, losing to Halstead 42-38 in the rematch. Nickerson carried an 18-9 lead over Halstead at the break before the Lady Dragons stormed back to force an overtime to exact revenge. Alyssa Talbott led Halstead with 16 points and Sydney Beat picked up 11. Ashley Almquist had 15 points for Nickerson with Paige Stewart adding 13.
Hillsboro was defending a No. 2 3A ranking and a ton of pride against fierce rival Hesston in a 46-44 thriller for the Lady Trojans. Krista Reimer led Hillsboro with 14 points. Sam Short led the Lady Swathers with 11 points with Laci McCartney close behind with 10.
Lyons outscored Pratt 10-2 in the second quarter on the way to a 52-47 win over the No. 4 Lady Greenbacks.
No. 9 Haven held Smoky Valley to single-digit scoring in each quarter in a commanding 57-29 win over the Lady Vikings. Cora Ezel and Ashley Rogers scored 13 points each for the Lady Wildcats.
Kingman had two players, both Katelynn Martine and Dani Molitor score 21 points, but still couldn’t beat Sterling as the Lady Black Bears took the Lady Eagles in overtime 60-54. Dani Dowell led Sterling with 13 points while Aubree Nuest and Jill Oden chipped in 11 points each.
CPL
Conway Springs had no problem with Medicine Lodge in a 51-36 win for the Lady Cardinals. Ali Rodgers had a monster game for the Lady Indians with 21 points, but it was not enough to compete with Conway Springs. Stacy Sones led the Lady Cardinals with 15 points and Sara Echelberry chipped in 11 in the easy win.
Douglass came out on top of a defensive struggle with Wichita Independent in a 34-29 win for the Lady Bulldogs. Bayley Nispel led the Lady Bulldogs with 8 points, in a game where Douglass spread the scoring around. Alise Coccetella had 12 points for Wichita Independent.
Cheney ran by Bluestem 62-46, and No. 7 Garden Plain hammered Wichita Trinity 51-29, and Belle Plaine took Chaparral 50-38.
GWAL
No. 5 Bishop Carroll’s Janna Reichenberger and Wichita East’s Relina Johnson put on an offensive show in Carroll’s 66-55 win over the Lady Blue Aces. Reichenberger led the Lady Golden Eagles with 22 points and Johnson led all scorers with 26. Kayla Demel and Jordyn Miller helped Reichenberger out with 16 points each, while Tori Spann added 13 for Wichita East.
Wichita North was all over Wichita West in a 56-18 win over the Lady Pioneers. Naomi Rosales put up 18 points for the Lady Redskins and Maddie Northcutt added 11. Aujanae McCoy led West with 8 points.
Wichita South had to deal with a valiant effort in the fourth quarter from the Wichita Northwest Lady Grizzlies, but held on to a 32-31 win. Jessa Molina led the Lady Titans with 14 points in the South win. Shayla Cotman led Northwest with 12 points.
Top-ranked Wichita Heights smoked Wichita Southeast 90-23.
HOA
No. 4 Berean blanked Moundridge in the first quarter on the way to a 34-27 win for the Lady Warriors. Kayla Wilgers had a game-high 13 points for Berean, while the Lady Wildcats struggled to find scoring. MacKenzie Suderman led Moundridge with 7 points.
Ell-Saline had no problem with Inman, beating the Lady Teutons 52-27, and Marion doubled up Canton-Galva in a low-scoring 30-15 game. No. 9 Remington nipped Hutchinson Trinity 31-30.
WAC
Dodge City shellacked Liberal 73-31. Brenna Briggs broke a pair of her own records at Dodge, with seven 3-pointers in a game and 37 points in a game.
Non-League
Andover Central shut the Campus offense down in a 54-20 win for the Lady Jaguars. Campus only managed 10 points through the first three quarters of the game. Katie Kretchmar led Central with 12 points will Skylar Snodgrass was right on her heals with 11.
No. 10 Hutchinson got by Arkansas City 50-39.
Katelyn Loecker had 19 points for McPherson in the Lady Bullpups’ 59-36 win over Derby. The Lady Panthers were led by Hannah Jimenez with 10 points.
Top-ranked Salina Central took care of Goddard 64-51 behind a strong night for Shaelyn Martin. Martin led the Lady Mustangs with 19 points, and was followed by Emily Wood’s 15 points. Leslie Rausch put the Lady Lions on her back with 26 points, but could not help Goddard get by 5A’s best team.
No. 8 Andale dispatched Winfield 58-32, and Rose Hill fought off Clearwater 57-46.
El Dorado presented Wichita Collegiate with a bit of a problem in the Lady Cat Classic, but the Lady Spartans took out the Lady Wildcats with minimal resistance 52-36.
Mulvane fell behind 11-2 after the first quarter, but exploded after the setback to beat Circle 41-29. Madison Bish led the Lady Wildcats with 12 points. Ashley Frankenberry led the Lady Thunderbirds 9.
No. 8 Hays survived a scare, outlasting Salina South in a thrilling 46-44 win for the Lady Indians.
6A No. 3 Maize and 5A No. 3 Andover lived up to the billing. Paige Lungwitz buried a 3-pointer for Maize to knot the game at 34-34, setting up an overtime where the Eagles picked up a 46-40 win.
