Day one of girls state swimming is in the books. Diving champions have been crowned and swim finals are tomorrow.

Adrianna Lewis of Blue Valley Northwest is the 6A diving champion with 431.6 points. Shawnee Mission North’s Sarah Sanders took second with 395.95 and Ellie Smart of Shawnee Mission East rounded out the top three with 379 points.

Caroline Freeman and McKenzie Piland of Wichita Heights finished in 12th and 14th respectively.

In the 5-1A diving finals, Chelsey Kessler of Emporia won the state championship with 375.3.  Lauren Curry of Blue Valley Southwest took second with 358.75 and Payton Meyer of Blue Valley took third with 337.95. Ashley Wheeler of Emporia took sixth and Bronte Doughman of Salina Central finished in eighth.

Swimming preliminaries wrapped up today, as well. On the 6A side, the Northwest’s and East’s 200 medley relay teams are seeded third and fourth, respectively heading into tomorrow’s finals.

Emily Chesser of Southeast holds the top spot in the 200 individual medley. Northwest’s Nikki Daniels sits at the third seed.

Abbey Lassley of North is the seventh seed in the 100 butterfly and Northwest’s Kara Aaby is the eighth seed. McKenzie Strother holds the six seed in the 100 freestyle.

North’s and East’s 200 freestyle relay teams hold the seven and eight spots in the finals. Chesser has the top seed in the 100 backstroke and Aaby earned the four seed Friday. Lassley and East’s Olivia Tran hold the five and seven seeds, respectively.

Daniels holds the 100 breaststroke top seed by almost three seconds. Kathleen Fee of Hutchinson is the six seed in the event.

In the 400 freestyle relay, North sits at the five seed and Northwest holds the eight seed.

Many local swimmers made the finals on the 5-1A side. the 200 medley relay team of Independent hold the two seed and Newton sits at five. McPherson has the six seed and Andover Central sit at the eight seed.

Kelsey Eklund of Independent has the three seed in the 200 freestyle. Gina Cernhous of Andover Central and Emily Knocke of Wichita Trinity hold the two and four seeds, respectively.

Chelsey Kilgore of Trinity earned the top seed in the 50 freestyle Friday. Audra Hansen of Andover holds the three seed.

Carroll's Madison Hutchinson holds the top seed in the 100 butterfly and Entz of Newton has the four seed.

Kilgore, Eklund and Hansen hold the two, three and four seeds, respectively in the 100 freestyle.

Cernohous earned the two seed in the 500 freestyle Friday.

In the 200 freestyle relay, Salina South holds the two seed.

Brooke Brittain of Independent, Knocke and Hutchinson hold the top three seeds respectively in the 100 backstroke. Marisa Meyer of Kapaun and Hana Robinson of Newton sit in the three and four seeds respectively in the 100 breasstroke.

Independent, Salina South and Newton hold the two, three and four seed in the 400 freestyle relay.
