Clearwater showed why they were the better team at BG Products Veterans Sports Complex in El Dorado, as they defeated the Wildcats 26-6.
Clearwater got things started as they struke first with 7:47 left in the first quarter. Senior quarterback Chad Reibenspies threw a 29-yard reception to sophomore wide receiver Jake Wright, for the first score of the game. El Dorado blocked a field goal attempt by Clearwater, but could not capitalize.
Clearwater extended its lead to 14-0 in the third with 10:09 left as junior running back John Becker ran it in from seven yards out. El Dorado cut the deficit to eight when senior running back Tyson Jones ran it in from three yards out, with 5:25 left in the third quarter.
Clearwater extended the lead to 20-6 with 32 seconds left in the third as Reibenspies scored from it in from 22 yards out. Reibenspies capped the night off with an 11-yard run with 7:24 left in the game.
Coach Dirk Ankerholz said his team had an on and off game.
“We were not good in the first half, but we played a better half,” Ankerholz said. “Reibenspies and Becker are our key players, so they have to step up in every game we play.”
Reibenspies was five of eight for 100 yards with a touchdown and an interception and also had 14 rushes for 87 yards and two touchdowns. Becker was the leading receiver with four catches for 66 yards.
For El Dorado, junior quarterback Travis House was 12 of 26 for 127 yards and three interceptions. Jones was the leading rusher with 15 rushes for 36 yards and a touchdown. Senior wide receiver Kyle Macy was the leading receiver with seven catches for 76 yards.
