From the first quarter on Andover Central never looked back.  Led by senior Cami Gee and sophomore Skyler Snodgrass, the team cruised to an easy 66-41 victory.  Gee and Snodgrass led all scorers with 20 points apiece.

“We really moved the ball around,” said senior guard Cami Gee.  “We had fast breaks and made our shots.”

Andover Central was faster in transition, bigger down low, and smoother with their possessions.  The Lady Jaguars built a 27-point lead and they still would not let up.  They were diving on the ground for loose balls, guarding the ball handler as if they were playing for the state championship.  With 3:45 left in the third quarter Gee nailed a mid-range jumper, looked at her coach and shrugged her shoulders, reminding spectators of Michael Jordan when he shrugged off a shot against the Jazz in the finals.

As for Goddard, their only offensive was senior guard Ashley Foss; who scored 16 points with 13 of those points coming from the free throw line.

“We lost a lot when they split up the schools,” Goddard head coach Lee Keller said. “We lost a lot of experience when they split our school into Eisenhower and Goddard. It is what it is.”

While Goddard lost a lot of experience, Andover Central is gaining a tremendous amount of experience. Though they will lose Gee at the end of the year, Andover will have a solid core of juniors and sophomores led by Snodgrass.  With Snodgrass, sophomore center Katie Kretchmar, and freshman guard Brooke Petersen Andover Central should remain one of the top schools in thedistrict.

“We have a bright future,” said Andover Central head coach Stana Jefferson.  “We have a lot of young players getting good experience with success to go along with it.”

If tonight’s resilience and determination is any indication of the future, Jefferson should find herself in more winning situations frequently.
