The 2012 North Central Kansas League football championship was won, convincingly, by the Wamego Red Raiders.

The Red Raiders wrapped up the crown this past Friday night with a 35-12 win over the Clay Center Tigers.

The Red Raiders have one loss on the season, that coming in their first game of the season when they lost to Rock Creek 28-27.

But Wamego has not lost since, and Rock Creek is not a member of the NCKL, so Wamego’s five-game winning streak coincided with their five-game NCKL schedule and when the Raiders handed Clay Center that 23-point loss Friday night it wrapped up their 2012 NCKL schedule with an undefeated record.

There are still more NCKL games to be played, but none by Wamego or Marysville, their places in the league are determined.

Wamego is the champion with a 5-0 NCKL record while Marysville also has a 0 in its record as the Bulldogs were beat by Abilene 52-28 on Friday night leaving them with no NCKL wins in 2012.

This week Chapman will play at Abilene, to finish off their 2012 NCKL slates while Concordia will play at Clay Center on Oct. 24 to finish off the NCKL and regular season at the same time.

The Panthers are currently second to Wamego with a 3-1 NCKL record while Chapman and Clay Center are tied at 2-2 and Abilene is currently fifth with a 1-3 record.
