After running the table in City League softball on the way to a second-straight state championship, Bishop Carroll was rewarded with top honors in the 2012 All City Softball Team. The Lady Eagles topped the list with 10 All City players, including six on the all-league first team. The six first-team players is double the amount of Wichita Heights and Wichita Northwest which had three first-team nods each.
The future for Carroll may look as bright as its recent past, with all six first-team players returning next spring.
Northwest and Kapaun both placed eight players on the list. Northwest came in second in the City League running, winning every game but the doubleheader with Bishop Carroll and qualified for the 6A State Tournament. The Lady Grizzlies coach Merri Copeland was honored as the Coach of the Year.
Kapaun leaned on its eight All-City players to qualify for the 5A State Tournament after a fourth-place finish in the league.
